Tulsi is one of the magical ayurveda herbs that benefit almost everyone. From a small problem like fever to cold, cough, diarrhea, vomiting, diabetes, high blood pressure, tulsi has a cure for all. Tulsi comes in 2 forms — most common ones — the green colored Lakshmi tulsi and the purple hued Krishna tulsi. The healing power of tulsi has made it a top choice among several users from hundreds of years. It helps in sharpening memory, strengthening stomach, relief from phlegm and much more.

Now, many people have a basic question on how to consume tulsi. To answer this simplest question, tulsi can be consumed anyhow — raw, in juice form, can be added to your tea or in the form of kadha(a concoction of tulsi leaves, ginger etc. in hot water).

Moving further, apart from the brief benefits mentioned above, here are some of the lesser known benefits Tulsi provides you if consumed as mentioned:

1. Respiratory disorder: Respiratory problems like bronchitis and asthma can be relieved if you take extraction of tulsi leaves mixed with ginger and honey. For influenza, boil tulsi leaves along with cloves in 1 liter of water till it remains half, add common salt and consume for quick relief.

2. Mouth infections and dental problems: In case of mouth ulcers and dental infections, just chew a few raw tulsi leaves for few days. It will help in improvement.

3. Insect bites: Summer and rainy season calls for mosquitoes and hence insect bites are quite common. To treat them and get good relief, intake a teaspoonful of tulsi leaves juice every few hours. Alternatively, apply fresh juice or the fresh paste on the respective area.

4. Eye sight: I am not joking if you hear me saying that two drops of tulsi juice everyday can help overcome several problems like night blindness, sore eyes, and conjunctivitis.

5. Fighting cancer: Prevention is always better than cure and here this saying comes handy. Tulsi does not help in treating cancer but it surely can help prevent it. Tulsi can prevent lung, skin, oral and liver cancer by altering healthy gene expressions, inducing cancer cell death, prevent blood cell growth and stop metastasis which is responsible for spread of cancer from one organ to another.

6. Kidney Stones: As per the eating habits and lifestyle, kidney stones have become very common. Mix the tulsi leaves juice with honey and take regularly for 6 months so as to expel the stones naturally through urinary tract.

Ayurveda Holy Basil is also very beneficial for heart and bones since it is a good source of Vitamin K — an essential fat-soluble vitamin.
